Obtaining a Spanish Passport?

I am 16 years old and I wish to obtain a Spanish Passport for ease of travel. Although I have interest in earning Spanish Nationality, I am a born American. It is my Grandmother with Spanish citizenship; can I obtain a passport through her citizenship?

Those persons with a grandmother or grandfather who was originally Spanish may apply for Spanish nationality by means of one year’s legal residence in Spain. This procedure must be initiated by the Head of the Registry Office in the Spanish place of residence, and is resolved by the Ministry of Justice. You are required to formally renounce your former nationality before a Spanish judge, and to swear an oath of allegiance to the Spanish crown.
